About the Role:

 

Assists Tax Director with management of the Bank's tax compliance, planning, and control functions. This position reports to the Tax Director.

 

  • Oversees preparation of federal, state and local income tax returns, WA B&O tax returns, personal property tax returns, and sales/use tax returns. Manages all income tax estimates and payments.
  • Performs tax related research and evaluates the impact of new tax laws and accounting standards on the Bank
  • Coordinates responses related to tax examinations, including internal, external, and agency audits
  • Assists certain aspects of current and deferred tax accounting, in accordance with ASC 740 both quarterly and annually
  • Assesses the impact of the Bank’s tax liability and establishes and carries out a campaign to minimize the organization’s tax liability
  • Responsible for the development of company tax policies and procedures.
  • Assists in assessing tax impact of various activities such as acquisitions and/or expansions
  • Manages the retention and preparation of tax records, tax returns, and other required reports.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

About You:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent required
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
  • 7-10 years of corporate audit and tax experience required
  • Less than 2 years of supervisory experience required
  • CPA required
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with US GAAP (and regulatory practices and principles and pronouncements related to tax.
  • Proficiency in Tax Research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage financial data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.  Experience with OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Tax Provision, CSC Corptax, and Oracle Peoplesoft a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks successfully.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences or has the interest in learning to train and present.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

The pay range for this role is $[Position’s U Minimum to Position’s P 1.2 Compa Ratio], and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location.
